i've
titled the hypermedia class this website serves "composition,
new media, and the blogosphere" and have used this website to
incorporate blogs, lecturecasts, and other forms of new media into
a traditional
intermediate
english
composition class. my goal for the course is to improve my students'
writing, reading, and analytical skills as well as their new media
knowledge and skills. since so much of the new media landscape involves
writing and argument - things we do in english departments everyday
- i think students of the academy's english departments are uniquely
poised to make significant contributions to the ever evolving digital
world. this semester, we'll discuss new media issues at-large and new
media composition issues in particular, and we'll use our blogs to
engage textually with the new media internet space. this website is also
an elq web designs pedagogical experiment. this means that its scope
is larger than the class it primarily serves.
toward this end, i've added pop-up links on each page that allow those
curious about the possibilities of new media pedagogy to read analysis
and interpretation relevant to the design, incorporation, and functionality
issues associated with this website's several features. to launch these
pedagogical
notes,
click the (§) link where ever you see it.
